The Bot management module

This module is not about your members: it sets the relationship between your server and Kuratos itself. What the bot tells you, how you report a problem to us, and how it looks on your server.

Official announcements

This channel receives announcements from the Kuratos publisher. You pick the channel and, separately, which types you want — all four are configured independently.

  • Updates: new features and behaviour changes.
  • Restarts and maintenance: planned interruptions.
  • Incidents: malfunctions in progress.
  • Status and fixes: the follow-up to an incident, through to resolution.

Pick a channel your TEAM reads, not a public one. These announcements address whoever administers the server: a maintenance notice sent to your members does not inform them, it worries them.

The mention on delivery

You decide whether an announcement mentions anyone: nobody, @everyone, @here, or a specific role. A staff role is almost always right — a maintenance notice does not justify waking the whole server.

A test send button lets you check the channel and permissions without waiting for a real announcement. Use it: it is the only way to know the channel works before you need it.

Bug reporting

Enabling this opens the report command and the matching dashboard block. The report reaches the publisher with the server concerned, the module and the time.

For a report to be useful, three things are essential: what you expected, what happened, and the approximate time. Without the time, the matching trace often cannot be found in the logs.

Your server settings are not transmitted, and neither is message content.

How the bot looks on your server

  • Nickname: the name Kuratos appears under on your server, up to 32 characters. Useful if you prefer a name that fits your setting.
  • Accent colour: the default colour of the bot’s embeds, in hex or from the swatches offered. It works as a visual cue — you recognise a bot message without reading the sender.
  • Language: French or English, for everything the bot says on this server. This setting belongs to the server, not the member.

Do not confuse two different languages. This one decides what the BOT writes in your channels. Command NAMES follow each member’s own Discord client language: a French speaker sees /aide, an English speaker /help, on the same server.

Resetting the server

The module also holds a full reset of the server’s Kuratos configuration. It asks for two successive confirmations, and that is not politeness: it erases every module’s settings.

It serves one precise purpose — starting clean after trying a lot of things — and no other. Before using it, make sure nothing else explains the problem.

What about time zones?

Kuratos offers no per-server time zone setting: it was deliberately removed from the product. Deadlines are stored in universal time, and recurring schedules are computed on Europe/Paris.

What that means in practice: a post or event scheduled from the dashboard goes out at the time you entered. For a recurring schedule, a server outside Europe will see its time shifted by an hour during the few weeks when its region and Europe do not change clocks together.

Key points

  • Official announcements belong in a staff channel, never a public one.
  • The test send button checks channel and permissions before you need them.
  • A bug report without an approximate time is often untraceable in the logs.
  • The language set here is the BOT’s; command names follow each member’s own.
  • There is no per-server time zone: recurring schedules follow Europe/Paris.

Frequently asked questions

Can you set your server’s time zone?

No. That setting was removed from the product. Deadlines are stored in universal time and recurring schedules computed on Europe/Paris; a one-off post does go out at the time you entered.

Can official announcements be disabled?

Yes, globally or type by type — updates, restarts, incidents and status are separate. Turning everything off is not advised: it is how you learn a malfunction is known.

What does a bug report contain?

The server concerned, the module, the time and your description. Neither your server settings nor message content are transmitted.

Does the bot language change command names?

No. The language set here decides what the bot WRITES on your server. Command names follow each member’s Discord client language, independently of this setting.

Put this guide into practice

Kuratos sets up in minutes what this guide describes, and is configured from a web interface rather than through commands.
